Last week my goal/challenge was to focus on my family. I tried to find ways that we could spend one on one time with each other and do things other than watch TV. I’m not saying we didn’t watch TV, because we definitely did. Game of Thrones, we are ready for your next season.

Here are some ideas you can do with your family/loved ones (some of which we did, some of which we do but didn’t this week):

  • Board games: My husband and I really love to play board games. We don’t really have friends or family here so we have to find ways to play on our own. There are a few games that we like to play that is actually enjoyable with just two people –
    • Bananagrams, Uno, SpotIt, Mancala, and sometimes we play Splendor. Mykle doesn’t really like playing it with two people, but I do and he loves me so we play it – haha!
  • Outdoor activities: Hiking, taking a walk… Okay that’s about all I’ve got that we’ve done. Or – hope to do. We haven’t hiked here yet, but we are looking at places to go and when the weather is better (and we have more motivation) we are hoping to go. Instead of driving to the store, we take a nice walk together!
  • Exercise: Okay this sounds dumb but my husband and I workout almost everyday together and it really is a nice time to do it together. It makes it more fun to go to the gym because we do work outs with each other! Hiking goes along with this as well. Every day after we work out, we come home and I use my hoola-hoop (I bought one because I really love to do it, and he says I have to use it everyday because I decided to randomly buy one?) with our balcony door open – Luna plays on the balcony and Mykle plays music! It is a good afternoon tradition in our home.
  • Going out: Soooooo…. We don’t go out often because we like to save money, and we enjoy just sitting and watching TV with each other. But from time to time, we like to go out! We have the AMC pass ($40/month for 3 movies a week) and we LOVE it. It gets us out of the house and we love to have a full discussion about whatever movie we saw on the drive home. I love it because it gives us interesting conversations and we have so many opportunities to watch movies we watch ones that we might not normally, and find new movies that we love! I have to say I love this pass – but mostly because most AMC’s have recliner seats and for some reason Washington doesn’t have many theaters with nice, comfortable seats. And I can’t watch a movie without stretching out my legs. And of course, we love to eat out! To say some money we like to go to places where we can earn reward points. I always like to get an app even if we don’t go there often, those points will slowly start to add up! For example – we go to Cafe Rio fairly often and we have gotten so many free items from them.

Those are just a few! But we had a lot of fun this week and I’m sure this week we will have fun too. We are hoping to go on a hike this weekend! I’m thinking one of my future challenges will be a money-saving challenge… We’ll just have to wait and see.

Anyways, for this week I’m doing a challenge of creating some really great daily routines for myself. I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before, but I am obsessed with creating lists. I think that’s fairly normal, but I have a weekly list and daily lists throughout the week. Having a planner comes in mighty handy for that. I also have a big white board I like to put my “long-term” tasks on and my weekly tasks, so that I can cross them off easily and I remember them!

I want to be a little more interactive this week, so I’m sorry if I blow up your email (don’t worry, I’m thinking I might just do one more post this week that’s all).

I want a good morning and nightly routine – I have a decent routine now, but I want to solidify it more and do it more consistently.

Here is what my list will include for my morning routine (starting at 6:30 A.M.):

  • Make my bed
  • Brush and floss teeth
  • Skin care routine
    • Cleanser, toner, moisturizer
  • Take vitamins
  • Drink a bottle of water
  • Make breakfast (and eat breakfast… I have always struggled actually eating breakfast that early in the morning)
  • Yoga/Meditate/Pray

I believe that’s it… Other than if I need to shower in the morning, but I usually shower at night/after a work out. And while I’m not working Mykle and I have been working out after he gets off work, but when I get a job I would like to add working out to my morning routine.

Here is what my list will include for my nightly routine (In bed by 9-9:30 P.M.):

  • Prepare lunches/outfits/etc. for the next day. I like to feel ready and prepared so I’m not stressed for time in the morning.
  • Shower
  • Brush and floss teeth
  • Skin care routine
    • Cleanser, toner, moisturizer

Again, I think that’s all. I’m sure when I start I will find more things I want to add, or maybe that’s all.

Anyways, really excited about this because I love having a morning and night routine, but I have always been very inconsistent about it. What’s your morning/nightly routine? Anything you think I should add to mine?
