So I have been interested in trying out these little side hustle/extra cash jobs for awhile. A lot of them seemed like scams, and I’ve heard that some of them are, but I still wanted to try a few out and see if I could actually make a little extra cash. Here are a few that I tried out:

Survey Junkie: Easy to start. You can choose which surveys to take on how many points you will earn from them and how long (approximately) they take to do. There is a software you can download for 150 points that is supposedly to help you better your survey taking or something. But the nice thing is you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to. The points are pretty simple, by the time I got 100 pts. I got $1. So it would take a lot of work and time to get an actual good amount of money. But if you have time and you’re just multitasking, you could probably make a small amount of extra cash! Last edit in this one – I went to take surveys just to try and get points while I’m bored at work, and a lot of them I just didn’t even qualify for or didn’t work.

ShopKick: ShopKick is a downloadable app where you scan items at the grocery store or while you online shop to earn points for gift cards. When you first sign up all it asks what you shop for online or in store and what you’re interested in saving up for (which gift card). Kinda cool to earn points by just scanning items without buying them. But there are usually more points available to earn when you purchase something and scan your receipt. From what I learned, most items were not actually in the store at that time (we usually shop at Costco) and so it was frustrating to go to that specific spot in the store to look for it and it wasn’t even there. I would say this would work fine if you put a lot of effort in it EVERY time you went grocery shopping, and at different grocery stores. But for me it didn’t really do anything and I didn’t make any money or get a gift card.

MyPoints: You buy items through this and get cash/giftcards. You can watch videos to earn points and take surveys and take polls, etc. It seems like A LOT of work/videos to get any points.

Anyways – Something that I have been doing through the past year is using Robert Half. If you have never heard of Robert Half, it is a temp agency. They have Accountemps (who I am working for now) who specifically find office jobs for you to fill in for. I am also using The Creative Group to find jobs when we move. They help you find opportunities for temporary and direct hire jobs. It has been an amazing experience for me to get my foot in the door somewhere when we just moved here and I needed employment. Since then I have loved it because even though some are longer assignments and some are only a week or two, it was helpful to get that income when I was going to school. And now that we are moving in a few weeks – it has been great to get a few different jobs here and there. And honestly, I have learned a lot about my capabilities through all the different jobs. I have found many, many different opportunities with the vast amount of people I’ve been able to work with just in this year. It is a great way to get started if you are having a hard time finding employment – and they are very good with finding something in your preferences. Something nice is that you can always say no to a job, and if you don’t want to look for something through them anymore you just tell them! It is very simple and has helped me and my family in many ways – I’m extremely grateful for all the opportunities I’ve been able to get through them.

For example, I’m on an assignment now as a receptionist. The job is to literally just greet anyone who comes in. They don’t have me answering phones or on the computer. They asked if I bring my own computer because I would get bored! It is a great way to get extra money when you need it. Even though most of my jobs have been busier than this one, you never know what they can find for you.

Do you have any side hustles/ideas? Let me know in the comments.

Happy savings!
